I have learned a lot by becoming frugal, cutting back on spending and stretching resources as far as I can. When I got laid off from my job, we had to cut back on spending, then the economy worsened, my husband lost hours at work, all of this made me rethink what I was doing to fun our household without a lot of sacrifices.
