Banana Split Celebration Sponsored By Dole, St Vincent College And The City Of Latrobe





I was contacted by Dole to attend and blog about the Banana Split Celebration this weekend in my hometown of Latrobe PA, how exciting! Latrobe is the birthplace of the banana split which was created here back in 1904!


Here is a schedule of events and the cost (if any)





· Friday August 23, 2013
11 to 11:45am – Dedication of Historical Marker (800 block Ligonier Street)

Noon to 5pm - Sidewalk Sale by participating Merchants (downtown district)

6:30 to 7pm – Dole Banana Daiquiri Cocktails (Quatrini Rafferty Building & Ligonier Street in between)

7 to 9pm – Yellow Tie Gala (Quatrini Rafferty Building., Latrobe Art Center & Ligonier Street in between) $35/person and reservations are required ahead of time. Call the art center at (724) 537-7011 for more info



· Saturday August 24, 2013
10am to Noon – Dole Family Stroll sponsored by Rotary (downtown district)

10am to Noon – Latrobe Bus. & Prof. Women’s Club Baking Contest (Quatrini Rafferty Building)

11am to 4pm – Sidewalk Sale/Vendors (downtown district & Medicine Shoppe lot)

11am to 4pm – Lions Club Car Hop / Show (Depot Street lots)

Noon to 4pm – Old Fashion Family Carnival (Main & Weldon street lots)

6 to 9pm – Malt Shop Sock Hop (Quatrini Rafferty Building., Latrobe Art Center & Ligonier Street) $10 per adult and $5 per child



· Sunday August 25, 2013
3:45 to 4:30pm – Largest Banana Flash Mob (Saint Vincent College - Chuck Noll Field)

4:30 to 6pm – Banana Split Bars (Saint Vincent College – Gym)
