This from the website Stodgy is Sexy "The movement has begun. Arrogance is out. Conspicuous consumption is out. Risk is definitely out. In the ways we spend, dress, invest, and consume, we are returning to old values like thrift, simplicity, and basic common sense. Stodgy? Absolutely. And stodgy is a good thing. Stodgy is sexy."
Do you agree with that statement? I do. Before I became a stay at home, I worked all the time, ran around shopping and whatever. After they started downsizing at my workplace and my job was eliminated, I ended up staying home with my kids. Sounds boring? Stodgy? Not the most exciting life but not necessarily boring, either...Never ending housework, remodeling, etc. In a world of skyrocketing prices and a throw away society, we as a family have become thriftier, and more creative in ways to recycle or reuse. I make as much as I can from scratch, foods, laundry detergent, all kinds of things. We have limited our outgoing trash to 1/2 a bag outgoing, down from at least 4! It does sound like a boring life but it is actually really fun to make kids items like play dough or edibles like bread or granola items! When we see the savings or beneficial outcome to our choices, it makes us very happy!
